Performance Goaltending Academy director and owner Ryan Boutilier began his coaching career 20 years ago (1998)  in the Glace Bay Minor Hockey Association. That year Ryan also jumped on board with the Women's High School Panthers as their goalie coach and found the passion to develop young goaltenders. Boutilier continued to work his way through the minor hockey and school hockey ranks while running Minor Hockey weekly goalie schools.

In 2005 after graduating from Acadia University with a Bachelor of Education, Ryan returned home to teach and coach the Glace Bay a High School Panthers boys hockey team. Ryan also joined Hockey Nova Scotia's Developement program that year and served roles as team leader, assistant coach and coach evaluatator.

In 2007 Ryan began to coach with Hockey Nova Scotia High Performance Programs and directed the under 14, 15 and 16 goaltending programs. During his time with HNS he coached Montreal Canadian prospect and Hamiliton Bulldogs goalie Peter Delmas, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League goalies Kirk Rafuse from the Lewiston Manaics , Halifax Mooseheads goalie Chris Clarke and Monton Wildcats and Reserve Mines native Jordan Kennedy.

After working as goaltending coordinator for Hockey Nova Scotia, Ryan joined the Cape Breton Tradesmen of the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League as their assistant coach as well as their goaltending coach. After a two year stint with the major midgets Ryan returned to teach at Glace Bay High School and  the Glace Bay Panthers of the CBHSHL as their Head Coach. 

In 2008 Ryan had the extream pleasure to work with team Canada's goalie coaches Dennis Sprokecan, Marco Marciano and Women's a National head coach Melanie Davidson at Father David Bauer Arena in Calgary Alberta during the Women's National evaluation camp.

Presently, Ryan is the Head Coach and GM Of the Kameron Junior Miners of the NSJHL, acts as director for GBMHA Monday goalie school as well as Sydney Minor Hockey goalie clinic and owns and directs Performance Goaltending Academy. Ryan also coaches in the  GBMHA coaching his three  boys Zachary,Noah and Jocob in their tots and novice divisions.

Ryan resides in Glace Bay with his wife Sarah and their five children Zachary, Noah, Jacob ,Matthew and Ben.
